Join in with the Friends of Corona Heights Habitat Restoration in the regular monthly work party at one of San Francisco’s prime native habitat areas (one of more than 30 in the City’s park system). There are some 100 native plant species that have been recorded at Corona Heights. Many have survived the effects of human habitation and urbanization and are still there. However, the populations of many have been drastically reduced and some have even vanished. Therefore, in an attempt to increase the populations of the species still there and reintroduce those known to have been there, this month’s work party will be devoted to planting native seedlings, which we helped propagate at the Native Plant Nursery during our August work party. The seeds for these have been taken directly from Corona Heights if the species still exists there, or from another close site if the species has been extirpated at Corona. There will be lots of seedlings to plant, so, we need lots of you! Corona Heights workparties are held on the last Saturday of each month, except in November & December in which they’re usually held one or two weeks earlier.
