|Directions:||If coming from Pasadena on 210 FWY East: Exit Baseline Road, in Claremont. When on Baseline go west, to Monte Vista/Padua Ave. Turn North (right) on Padua, follow for a mile to the light. Turn East (right) onto Mt Baldy Rd. Follow the Mt Baldy Rd. through Baldy Village (about 8 miles). Travel another 3.5 miles, from the Buckhorn Lodge-at the north end of Baldy Village, to our driveway on the right hand side of the road. We share a gravel driveway with the Mt. Baldy Zen Center. The Harwood sign will be out at the end of the driveway. (Snow Crest Lodge is directly across on the left, so if you see SnowCrest, look to the right for our driveway). If coming from Palm Springs 210 FWY West: Exit Mountain Ave. in Upland, turn right and head up the road through San Antonio Heights until you come to Mt. Baldy Road, turn right, then follow Mt. Baldy Rd. same as above. There is no gas station once you exit the freeway, so make sure your car has enough gas.|
Harwood Lodge is operated with a qualified Overseer on Open Weekends and for Scheduled Events:
Open Weekends (10 a.m. Saturday to 3 p.m. Sunday) are available to all Sierra Club members, who may bring 2 non-member guests. The Overseer reserves the right to limit the number of people in the lodge to 50 persons on a first come, first served basis. A parent or guardian must supervise children at all times. Overseers are in complete charge of the building, utilities & fireplaces. Participants must bring their own food, sleeping bags & personal items. There is a fully equipped kitchen, dormitory sleeping facilities & restrooms with showers. Harwood is operated on a share-the-work basis—everyone shares chores to clean-up the lodge for the next weekend. Garbage & Waste must be taken down the mountain by those using the lodge. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the lodge or front porch. No pets allowed. On Open Weekends, no noise producing equipment (radios TVs, cassette/CD players, musical instruments, etc.) are allowed unless agreed by all present, or as listed in the activities schedule.
Group Reservations The group outings leader must contact the Lodge Scheduler (Elizabeth Ward at email@example.com) to reserve the lodge for an event. A minimum fee deposit of $100 for Saturday night with $50 for each additional night the lodge is reserved must be sent to the Lodge Scheduler 3 months in advance of the reserved date. The deposit is forfeited if the date is canceled.
