Situated in our own back yard, Prince William Forest Park is an orienteering playground, perfect for learning and honing map & compass skills. Don't worry if you don't have any! We will practice learning on one of the easy routes and then follow through on one of the harder routes to test our abilities. If you've never practiced reading a topographical map, come along to learn. If you have experience with map & compass, come along to share your knowledge. All participants should expect to be hiking off trail. Please wear solid footwear, be prepared to walk in the mud, possibly get wet, walk over trees, branches, bushes, thorns, etc. We will not be on trails. Please bring your lunch and a compass if you have one. (We can check them out from the Park Service if you don't). This outing is limited to 10 participants. Please contact the leader to sign up. Leader: Liz Guertin, firstname.lastname@example.org or 202-415-4639 (before 9pm).
