This relatively new park in San Jose’s south foothills sits on the southern flanks of Calero County Park. The area of former cattle ranches for over 100 years features extensive oak woodlands, native grassland areas, and spring wildflowers. This rugged backcountry offers spectacular views of the Diablo Range and Mt. Hamilton, as well as the Santa Clara Valley Floor. Bring lunch and drinks and dress for March weather. To carpool, meet at the Tamien Park-and-Ride at 9am. Rain cancels. Contact the leader if you want to meet us at the trailhead. 6.6 miles, 1000 feet
