Take a leisurely stroll through one of Montgomery County's largest intact forests. We will walk about 4 miles and discuss some of the natural and human history of the area, and look for signs of spring. The walk features views of the Potomac River from two scenic overlooks and a visit to the ‘remains’ of one of the Civil War blockhouses. Bring water and lunch as we'll 'dine' at a beautiful overlook high above the Potomac. This is a fairly easy hike with two short, gradual uphill climbs. Pick-up at Grosvenor/Strathmore Metro possible, but contact leader. Park at the main Blockhouse Point Conservation lot (not the smaller one down the road) on River Road 10 miles west from the Beltway/495 exit of River Road. Leader: Ron LaCoss, 301/946-1106 before 9pm for information or ronenviroed@aol.com
