Gas drillers in Pennsylvania are using a dangerous method of natural gas drilling called hydraulic fracturing, or fracking. The practice produces radioactive and toxic waste, which threatens drinking water supplies. The New Jersey Legislature is considering a bill that would ban the disposal of toxic and radioactive fracking waste across the state, protecting our watersheds for future generations.
Join us for a screening of the new documentary “Groundswell Rising” to learn more about fracking and the dangerous waste it produces. We will be hosting events around the state! A panel discussion following the film will focus on actions being taken here in New Jersey to keep toxic fracking waste out of our communities and how you can get involved! At each screening there will be an opportunity to take action in support of a fracking waste ban.
Groundswell Rising, Protecting Our Children’s Air And Water, the new documentary from Emmy Award-winning Resolution Pictures, captures the passion of people engaged in a David and Goliath confrontation. They stand together, challenging a system that promotes profit over health. We meet mothers, fathers, scientists, doctors, farmers and people from all sides of the political spectrum taking a hard look at energy extraction techniques not proven to be safe. With the Oil and Gas industry’s expansion of fracking seen as a moral issue, this provocative documentary tracks a people’s movement, a groundswell rising towards reason and sensitivity, to protect life, today and tomorrow.
A $10 donation is suggested to help finance the completion of the film.
Please RSVP to Kate Millsaps with which screening you be attending.
