More than five million Marylanders live in areas with unsafe air that is poisoned by smog and sulfur dioxide pollution, contributing to asthma, other respiratory issues and even death.
The good news is that our Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is developing a plan to limit the dangerous air pollution from coal-fired power plants that threatens the health of our families. But that plan to protect our health is now at risk as corporate polluters are working to roll back the strong protections against coal-fired power plant pollution.
After months of stalling, the Maryland Department of the Environment will be holding a hearing on December 8th where their Air Quality Control Advisory Council (AQCAC) will hear public comment on MDE's plan.
Please join the MD Beyond Coal Campaign at this hearing to show that our familes need MDE to pass strong, health-protective limits on pollution from dirty coal-fired power plants in our state. We need you there whether you want to testify or not!
We won a major victory for a rule that will limit NOx pollution from coal plants in MD, and this hearing will focus on SO2 pollution.
Please contact email@example.com if you wish to testify.
