Location: Parking lot, former Red Rock Elementary School

Leave a shuttle vehicle at the Trans La Sal Trail Crossing on the Geyser Pass road. Continue to the Moonlight Meadow trailhead (10530') at the pass. Hike down the meadow among (hopefully) the wildflowers with views of Haystack Mountain, the central La Sals and the canyon country to the west to Clark Lake (9380', 2½ miles). From Clark Lake, it's possible to shortcut over Boren Mesa to the Trans La Sal Trail Crossing for about 5.5 miles. But the intention is to continue another mile to Oowah Lake (8800'). Then climb up to Boren Mesa (9400') and descend to the trail crossing (8960'). About 6.5 miles, pretty much downhill except for the climb over Boren Mesa. (Route is entirely on formal forest service trails with a couple of steep parts not requiring the use of hands. It will take at least half an hour to retrieve the vehicles from Moonlight Meadow.)
